Professional legacy
Nelson Steiner worked in manufactured housing for more than five decades, leading Tampa-based Steiner Communities from the 1970s. His work began with Fountain View Estates, a 546-homesite community for residents age 55 and older, and expanded to include Park Place Housing Sales Centers.
Steiner developed more than 50 communities in Florida as well as communities in Colorado. Windward Knoll in Thonotosassa, Florida, received the Manufactured Housing Institute’s Community of the Year award in 2005.
He also devoted substantial time to state and national trade associations. His Hall of Fame induction recognized entrepreneurship, community development and a long commitment to quality housing and resident lifestyles.
