RV/MH Heritage Foundation  ·  Elkhart, Indiana  ·  Preserving the legacy of two industries

A historic vehicle, a home, a photograph, and an industry leader’s story can each reveal something different about the past. Preserving them together helps future generations understand how the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industries developed.

The RV/MH Heritage Foundation’s work is guided by four pillars: Preserve, Educate, Celebrate, and Steward.

Preserve the objects and records

RV Founders Hall and the Scoular Manufactured Housing Museum preserve examples of travel and housing history. The Kindlund Library & Archives adds historical materials that help place products, people, and companies in context.

Preservation involves more than retaining an object. Its story, associated records, and interpretation help visitors understand why it matters.

Educate through the visitor experience

The museums invite guests to compare different periods, designs, and ways of living. Vehicles and furnished homes make that learning tangible, while photographs, signage, and other materials connect individual exhibits with a wider history.

Clubs, schools, travel groups, and industry organizations can contact the Foundation to discuss visit arrangements. Researchers should contact the archives in advance about their topics and needs.

Celebrate the people

The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose contributions helped shape these industries. The Green Jacket Ceremony and annual Induction Ceremony & Dinner bring that recognition into a shared tradition.

Help steward the future

Visitors, donors, sponsors, and industry partners help sustain the mission. Participation can begin with a museum visit, an introduction to someone with relevant historical materials, or a conversation about supporting the Foundation.
